ARTIST BIO

Kamila Marrero (Izmaylova) is a Fort Lauderdale-based visual artist working primarily in oil, charcoal, and pastel. Originally from Kazan, Tatarstan Republic, Russia, she has a background in architectural design and formal art training, including a six-year degree in Architectural Environment and four years of fine arts education. Her work explores the connection between people, place, memory, and emotional experience. Her landscapes focus on atmosphere, changing light, coastal environments, and moments of stillness or approaching storms. Since making South Florida her home, the region's coastline, waterways, skies become recurring subject in her work.

Marrero has developed an active exhibition practice throughout Broward County and South Florida, including solo and group exhibitions, artist talk, and public art workshop. Her work has received Best in Show, People's Choice, and Honorable Mention recognitions through Broward Art Guild exhibitions. She is an active member of Broward Art Guild and has participated in community focused arts programming, including artwork donations to NAMI and a children's soft pastel workshop at Broward County Library.

Her current practice continues to explore how representational painting and drawing can connect personal experience with the environment and communities we inhabit.
